Glass Beadmaking
Beginning Beadmaking - Level I

Class Time: 2 Evening Classes 6:30-9:00 or Saturday 10-4
Students will learn about basic studio safety and begin to create round glass beads. You will learn to embellish these beads using a variety of techniques including applying dots, creating and applying stringers, masking, and raking.

Glass Beadmaking Basics and Beyond
Beginning Beadmaking - Level II

Class Time: 2 Evening Classes 6:30-9:00 or Saturday 10-4
Students will review making a basic round glass bead and begin to explore other bead shapes (discs, tubes, cones) and sculpted shapes (hearts, birdies, drops). Additional skills covered will include encasing, color reactions, and use of enamels, frits and silver leaf.

Glass Beadmaking Beyond the Basics - Level III

Students will review skills learned in Level I & Level II Classes and begin to explore off-mandrel techniques to create buttons and pendants, making hollow beads, making pressed beads, and making twisties for embellishment.

Intermediate Glass Beadmaking - Level IV

Students will learn to make focal beads and continue to explore off-mandrel techniques for buttons and pendants, learn to make production beads for jewelry projects, create ribbon cane and murrini for embellishment, as well as explore individual interests.

Fire & Felt for Jewelry

In this weekend class students will learn basic glass making skills to make embellished round beads, sculpted beads, and buttons for jewelry. On the second day, learn basic hand felting techniques (needle and wet felting) to compliment the beads made at the torch. Students will leave with their own unique, handmade finished pieces of jewelry! Students will learn to make focal beads and continue to explore off-mandrel techniques for buttons and pendants, learn to make production beads for jewelry projects, create ribbon cane and murrini for embellishment, as well as explore individual interests.

Beginning Beadmaking for Teens

Learn basic glass beadmaking techniques. Heather will thoroughly address flameworking safety and teach you how to create round bead shapes and sculpted beads, and how to embellish them in her fun and funky style. Students will learn to make focal beads and continue to explore off-mandrel techniques for buttons and pendants, learn to make production beads for jewelry projects, create ribbon cane and murrini for embellishment, as well as explore individual interests.
Class Fee: $30 per class, includes materials

Current and former students are invited to work on their own personal projects (and use Heather's tools) in her professional studio.
Class Fee: $15 per hour (3 hour minimum) or $120 for 10 hours. Current students receive a discounted fee of $10 per hour. (students must purchase their own glass - small quantities available through Heather Leyh Designs.

Class Time: Evenings-One 2 Hour Class
A fun evening for yourself or a gathering with friends with glass artist Heather Leyh. Learn to create your own earrings using sterling silver wire, glass beads, and other unique beads and components. Learn the fundamentals of tool use, wire work, bead selection, and design techniques to make earrings that are uniquely you! This is a great class to get you started making your own jewelry. No experience necessary.

Mini Art Quilts

Students will design and stitch together a 4"x6" mini art quilt to hang on their wall or a postcard. You may hand stitch or machine stitch. A sewing machine will be at class. Experience level: very basic sewing skills
